We spent the day fishing the East Fork Lewis and it was a great day! The weather was cold and clear. The river was falling, low, and clear. There were plenty of fishermen on the water but almost no one was catching. We didn't see any steelhead in the river during the drift, and only saw one Winter Chinook in a deep hole. We put in at the Ramp at the top of Lewisville Park. The first fish we caught was a chrome 12lb fish picked up by a bank angler fishing at the bottom end of the park. We fished all of the holes hard. We used float and jigs, along with plugs, and divers with pink worms. We never got touched. The second fish we saw came for another drift boat about a mile above Daybreak Park. It was caught on a small green brads diver pulling sand shrimp. Of 12 boats and about 60 bank anglers we saw those were the only two fish caught all day. It was awesoem day anyways. The word on the river is that everyone thinks the run is done and they all came in during the floods. I disagree with this theo

Steelhead in the Greys and Elochoman Rivers |

Hey there all you fishing fanatics. If you time it right there are lots of medium sized steelhead to be caught on the Greys and Elochoman Rivers. Time yoru triup between storms and focus on times when the waters are low and fairly clear to crystal clear. I use small jigs and floats, small spinners, and whne the waters are a bit muddy I switch to bait and drift fishing the soft edges and pockets. Use your light steelhead or heavy trout gear and these fish are a ton of fun. Monday thru Wednesday this week were hot . Saturday was slow and we only caught one fish that day. The Main Fork Lewis is pumping out Winter Chinook and Winter Steelhead. The Cowlitz has gone to a 6 steelhead a day limit and with the water being blown out the fish catching is going on in blue creek itself. There are a ton of fish stacked up in the creek and they are fairly easy to catch. I know of guys who have gone up and pulled their six fish limits on several different days. It will be crowded so don't expect any peace or quiet

Hey gang, This report covers the three main rivers in the Vancouver Washington area and what I am using to catch limits of B run silvers as they move up to spawn. The Cowlitz is getting a good shot of late run Silvers and the next rain will bring the majority of the B run into the rivers. Lots of these fish have a little color and there are some chrome fish mixed in. On the Cowlitz they are catching the fish with a variety of methods. The bank fishermen are chucking spinners and drifting eggs to cath their fish. Lots of the bank anglers are using size 4 and 5 blue Fox spinners with silver bades. With the low clear water, I highly reccomend that you drop down to a size 2 or 3 spinner with a brass or black blade. The fish are spooky in the low clear water and smaller spinners definately do the trick on getting these fish to bite. I personally prefer to toss plugs in all of the slow water pockets and backwater sections of t ...
