| Vancouver Lake is a shallow basin lake that is a back flow reservoir of the Columbia and Lake Rivers. In the spring we fish the lake extensively for carp. Yes, you heard that right Carp. We fly fish for these freshwater bruisers along the lakes shores and sloughs. Along with Carp we catch Largemouth Bass and a variety of pan fish on these trips. The lake warms quickly, kicking off good fishing early every year. Bass to 6lbs, big schools of perch, and crappie, along with thousands of common carp can be found in the lakes warm waters. Once hooked Carp rip off line like no ones business. Each trip presents the chance to hook into a fish over 50 lbs. This lake receives little to no pressure. It consistently kicks our big numbers of fish during the Spring and Fall. Join me for a shallow flats fishing adventure. Catching Carp on the fly in two feet of water is on of fly fishing’s greatest challenges. These trips are perfect for the fisherman who wants to know what to expect on his first flats fishing trip to more exotic locations. |
