Yale Reservoir
Steep Canyon Impoundment
Yale Reservoir
When : February to October
What : Kokanee, Trout
How : Standard Tackle
Yale Reservoir is a deep canyon lake with clear green water with a beautiful view of Mt St Helens in the distance.  The lake has an amazingly abundant Kokanee population with a mix of Rainbow, Cutthroat Trout, and a few Bull Trout added in. These trips are a downrigger and ultra light rod show. Using ultra light gear means you get to feel each fish fight to the fullest. Yale has mid sized Kokanee, with a limit of 16 fish per person per day. Limits are the norm on this spectacular fishery. We regularly limit the boat day after day on this northwest gem. Join me for a fun fish filled day. We will chat, relax, and reel in fish. Along with watching Osprey and Bald Eagles fly overhead, and snatch fish from the lake. All with Mt St Helens, visible in the distance. Occasionally one of the rods will pop free and the tip will slam into the water with line screaming off the reel. A monster trout has slammed your gear. These fights go on forever on the light gear. The fight ends with a huge trout in the net, a quick shot of the fish, and then releasing it back into the water to fight again another day. Drop me a call and I will set you up with a fun day of fishing and relaxation.
