| The Cowlitz is one of those great rivers that can produce fish every day of the year. The Cowlitz has fresh steelhead to be caught year round along with runs of Spring and Fall Chinook, Coho Salmon, Sea Run Cutthroats, and Sturgeon in the lower river. The Cowlitz has miles of long sweeping runs that are perfect for boondoggling and side drifting. The famed Blue Creek Hole to Mission Bar section is the most productive stretch of Steelhead water in Washington State. Fishing in the canyon stretch of the Cowlitz above Blue Creek finds you working beautiful runs with few boats and hundreds and sometimes thousands of fish just waiting to hit your gear. We often fly fish the Cowlitz for Steelhead and Sea Run Cutthroat Trout. Spring and Fall Chinook along with Coho Salmon make for great fall days on the river. If you like to bomb long casts with a Spey rod, and feel a Steelhead jumping on the end of your line. Then a trip on the Cowlitz River is the made for you. |
