| The South Fork Toutle River was virtually destroyed during the May 18 eruption of Mount Saint Helens. This river now runs clear and green year round. The South Fork has large runs of Steelhead. The river has recovered and the fish return to spawn in ever increasing numbers. Catch this river at the right times and your rod will stay bent all day long. We fish this small river at the peak times to keep your lines tight to that fish most people only talk about catching. The rivers waters are low all year making this a fly fisherman’s dream river. It has wide open banks with tons of back casting room and a large number of aggressive fish ready to put your gear to the test. We fish this river all summer and again in winter for steelhead. Many days it pays to relax and let your first fish few fish go, since we frequently have multiple fish days. We can always take a quick victory photo to help you remember you first fish. Summer and late winter are prime steel heading times on this beautiful little river. |
