Standard Tackle Fly Fishing | |
| The Yakima River is one of Washington States great fishing rivers. We focus the majority of our attention on the lower river between Benton City and Richland. The Smallmouth Bass fishing is fabulous and rivals the John Day in Oregon for productivity. You will find yourself floating down the river in a drift boat. We use light tackle, casting to the banks, and mid current humps and islands. This portion of the river is under utilized, we often fish all day without seeing another boat. The fishing is fast and furious with 60 bass days the norm. There are good numbers of 3 to 4 lb bass, with lots of smaller fish mixed in. We also catch catfish, trout, and carp on these exciting, fast paced trips. The lower Yakima has a good mix of runs, riffles, tailouts, and fast riffle sections. Each water type holds fish. Fly fishing the on the Yakima River is very productive. These trips produce lots of fish with high catch rates that keep everyone smiling and excited all day long. |
